Dear Parents,
I hope you and your loved ones are all well. As the lockdown continues, I really hope that that the children remember this period as a happy time and don’t begin to feel worried or down. Many of you spend long hours working from home as well as caring for your children. We know how hard it must be for you to juggle your various roles. Our friends at Amazing Minds have put together a free course designed to support you and your family with the emotional challenges that we are now facing. Find further details of the Amazing Minds course here.
The teachers have been phoning you all to keep in touch and we continue to set work weekly. Hopefully you have also accessed some other interesting activities via our facebook group. We have really appreciated your messages of support this week. Once again there have been some absolutely lovely photos of the children, which have really lifted our spirits. Please keep them coming, Mrs. Pluck is currently adding them to our website galleries.
As you will be aware Josh in Sharks made a film about his experiences with the NHS and I am delighted to say it won the People’s Choice award at the National Charity Film Awards. His family want me to pass on their thanks to everyone who supported him. What amazing news!
As you may have heard, the Government has said that the Year 1 Phonics Screening, KS1 SATS and the collection of EYFS data will not now go ahead. Our own teacher assessments are complete up until the point the school was closed. We are waiting to see what happens with the remainder of the academic year, so I’m sure you understand that we are unable to confirm any future events until we know when the school will re-open and what measures for social distancing will be in place. It is clear that we will have to make adjustments to our normal ways of working for a while.
We appreciate that children may be spending more time on screens at the moment and we would usually deliver our internet safety meeting for parents at this time. Can I point you towards the e-safety pages on our website for some helpful advice. I also recommend the 2 Johns website. We were planning with WISPA to invite the 2 Johns to our school once more. Hopefully this will take place next year.
On a much brighter note we have some wonderful news to share with you all. Mrs Espinosa-Davis is expecting a baby in late September. Our best wishes go to her and her husband at this time; we cannot wait for cuddles in safer times.
Wishing you and your loved ones a safe and happy weekend.
Kind regards
Helen Castell
