Here’s an activity at All Saints this coming Holy Week, starting on Palm Sunday.
The idea is that 2 of the big yew trees on either side of the path leading to the church porch will be decorated with ribbons on Sat evening: blue ribbons on the Worry Tree, and multi-coloured ribbons on the Hope Tree. People will be able to take tags from each of the Trees and write their Hopes and Worries on the tags, and attach them to the ribbons on each of the Trees.
On Easter morning at dawn, I will burn all the tags from the Worry Tree in my backyard fire pit to symbolically put them away, and allow for the Hope of new life to come as we emerge from Lockdown. All the Hopes will be collected and taken to prayer by the church community.
So come along and take part, and please spread the word around your friends and neighbours.
