Message from Mrs. Castell
Dear Parents
I cannot stop smiling after Year One’s performance today! We have such talented children and we were entertained with such a range of skills, delivered with such confidence. Thank you Year One! A reminder that the EYFS performance takes place on 14th July and Year 2's Celebration Assembly is on 15th July. This means that next Friday 8th July will be the last assembly this academic year for children to share awards, trophies etc. from outside of school.
It was lovely to see so many of you at the Summer Fayre on Saturday after a three year absence. The weather was kind to us and there was a brilliant atmosphere. Thank you to everyone who supported us and helped to set up, run stalls and clear away. It was a great success, the current estimate is that over £4000 was raised to share between both schools, so huge thanks to the organising committees and to you all for your generous donations.
Both Year One and Year Two have been on a school trip this week and we are delighted to say that the children have had a fantastic time! Thank you to our staff for all their preparation before each visit and for keeping the children safe and happy on the day. I am grateful to the Year Two children for being so patient, as we were forced to change arrangements for this Friday and postpone our original trip until the last day of term. It is frustrating, but it will be a wonderful way for them to end their school journey with us. I also spent a very enjoyable time in Dolphins class this Wednesday with the staff dressed up as flight attendants, as the children took a virtual flight to Kenya!
The children's annual reports and information about their new class and teacher will be emailed to you on Monday afternoon. Please look out for the email and contact us if you wish to talk to your child’s class teacher about their report.
Reading Mondays continue for two more weeks, but as EYFS are on their trip it will not take place in Foxes or Squirrels on Monday 4th July. The last Reading Monday for this academic year will be on July 11th.
I know we have had a few dress down days this term, but we are proud to support the NHS on Tuesday 5th July with a dress down day, when the children are invited to wear any colour of the rainbow. Each class will have a presentation from the NHS Schools Education Officer on that day. We suggest a donation of £1. Please ensure that dress down clothes are suitable for active, outdoor play.
Most clubs finish next week, so please ensure you check the finishing date for the club your child attends. Next week is the last week for Wednesday staff clubs.
Best wishes
Helen Castell

There are no awards this week due to the Year 1 Assembly today. They'll be back next week!
Year 2 News
This week we jetted off to Africa to observe the human and physical features of the continent and compared them with the UK. The children were proficient in sorting the features into the correct categories. We’ve had a writing focus this week and the children have impressed us with some wonderful work writing descriptions of the setting and writing stories of Zahra, an African girl who has a problem when the water runs dry. The stimulus was a short animation from the Literacy Shed.
We were so disappointed to postpone our cinema trip, but hope the children enjoyed their visit to Hylands Park. We are grateful for everyone who managed to come and join us at such short notice.

Year 1 News
The school trip to ‘Sea Life Adventure’ was fantastic!!! The children were all amazing and so well behaved. It was so lovely to see the children enjoying themselves and there was a lot of first experiences for most of our children. We have been non-stop rehearsing for the show and it has well and truly paid off. The children were absolutely terrific and we are so immensely proud of them all. A huge thank you to all of the adults for the amazing costumes and rehearsing/practising acts at home. This year has been a first for a lot of activities and the children have coped so well with the change of routine. Back to some normality next week! Thank you for all of your support during these busy times, have a lovely weekend.

EYFS News
We have enjoyed learning more about the ducks and we said goodbye to them today as they are going to a farm. We have enjoyed watching them hatch and grow, some are quite big now! This week we have also learnt about butterflies and their life cycle. We have learned how to draw a butterfly and labelled it using our phonics skills. We have started to practise for our end of year assembly. The children don't need bring in anything from home for it. In phonics we have gone over some of the phase 3 phonemes and in maths we have learnt about doubling and halving and odd and even numbers. We are all looking forward to our trip to Hylands park on Monday. Keep a lookout on Tapestry for reminders for the day. Have a lovely weekend.
