Weekly News – Friday 6th September

Dear Parents

It’s been a fabulous start to the term, with lots of smiling faces as the children arrive each day. As always, a few have forgotten they have moved up a year and inadvertently gone into the wrong classroom (staff included ), it will take a few days to settle into new routines. The children have grown so much in both height and confidence over the summer, we have loved hearing their stories of their holiday activities and they have clearly been delighted to play with their friends again.

School Meals

Our menu is published on the School Meals page of our website, together with a detailed allergen menu for each week. You will have seen our message today regarding the product recall for Oreos, please ensure that no products containing nuts or eggs are sent to school. Many thanks for your support as we protect children with life-threatening allergies.

Dates for your diary

We have now published our key dates for 2024-25, please ensure that you make a note of these in your diary. Although we try not to change any scheduled dates, sometimes this is unavoidable and there may of course be additional events over the course of the year, so please keep an eye on our weekly newsletter and ParentMail communications for any updates.

Each year group will hold a meeting for parents this half term to give you an insight into the coming academic year.  We encourage parents to attend, but if this is not possible, information will be published on our website. The dates are as follows:

Summer Reading Challenge

Writtle LIbrary has written to us to say how fantastic the take-up has been for this year’s Summer Reading Challenge. It ends tomorrow, and the library is open from 9am – 5pm, so you still have time to complete the challenge & collect your certificates & medals!

Travelling to school

Can we ask all parents to park with consideration for our neighbours when they travel to school. Please ensure that you do not block driveways, pedestrian routes or crossing points. You may have seen notices of future roadworks in the vicinity of the school in the coming weeks – please be prepared to leave extra time for your journey.

Fruits of the Forest!

Finally, we were delighted to harvest our first apple from our Forest School tree this week. The children were so excited to see how much the fruit has grown over the summer. We look forward to growing even more in the months to come.

Our first Forest School apple!

We look forward to working with you over the coming term. As always, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions. Our office team are always very happy to help, or to refer your query to other members of staff. Please continue to email us for the time being, while the phone company resolves our communications issue!!

We hope you have a relaxing weekend, the children should sleep well tonight!

Best wishes
